Despite the weather, I finally put the first 600 miles on my 2001 Savage. I suppose living here in South Texas, I shouldn't be complaining about the weather - it may be chilly, but you can still ride a bike. The good thing about owning a bike down here is that you can ride 7-24-365 give or take a few... Anyway, I'm getting lazy. There was a time when I was the only one I would let touch anything on my bike. I opted to take my Savage to the Suzuki dealer for it's first 600 mile check. Carlos has been mechanicking there for almost 20 years... he changed the oil/filter, checked the valve clearance, retorqued the head bolts, checked the belt, spokes, bolts, screws... I was only without the bike for 25 hours - during which time I only had slight withdrawals. It's a little nippy outside today - cloudy, breezy and 53 degrees F. I'm about to jump on the Savage and cruise for a few miles. To those of you who've already got your Savages tucked away in garages and basements (filled with Stabil, hopefully) - you've only got about 3 months before you can hit the road again... I'll be thinkin' of all of you while I'm cruisin' down the highway...
